2nd International Composition Competition
‘Amici della Musica di Cagliari’

Call for works 2016

The association ‘Amici della Musica di Cagliari’ together with MiniM Ensemble promote a competition for live-electronics music compositions.
We are looking for compositions that investigate the relationship between live electronics and percussion instruments, revealing new aspects of it. The jury will select a maximum of three compositions that will be performed during a dedicated concert at the Contemporary Music Festival of Cagliari in September 2016. The association ‘Amici della Musica di Cagliari’ will provide for accommodation to the selected composers in order to allow them to attend the performance.

1. Entry of compositions or projects proposals.

We accept solo works involving percussion and live-electronics, to be performed by the Italian percussionist Roberto Migoni;

The live-electronics part should be developed so that the compositions can be performed without the composer being necessarily present; a sound engineer with experience in softwares such as Pure data or Max MSP has to be able to perform the composition. Other software can be used but has to be provided by the composer;

The percussion instruments that can be used for the compositions are:
- Vibraphone and/or glockenspiel
- 4 toms
- Various cymbals (crash, ride, china, etc.)
- Bass drum

Other little percussion instruments are available, such as tambourine, triangle, vibratone, ocean drum, spring-drum. For further information concerning the percussion instruments please contact Roberto Migoni at rmigoni@gmail.com

•  The competition is open to composers from all countries;

•  There is no age limit for the composers;
• Entries must consist of a musical and technical description of the composition plus the score. The project description has to be in Italian or English;

• The duration of every single composition must be between 8 and 12 minutes;

• The compositions should be suitable for performances through a stereo or quadraphonic loudspeaker system;

• The use of videos or images is allowed;

• It is not mandatory to submit new works. The submission can include a presentation of previous already performed work(s);

• The entries have to include a biographical note, the address and the date of birth of the composer.

• A fee of 10 euro for each composition is required. The fee can be paid by bank transfer to:
